This summer, RNL Youth will be hosting their first annual vacation bible school in response to the urgent need of the community. The theme will be Dive into Jesus, a water-based curriculum aimed to make learning fun and refreshing in a safe environment. The best thing is we want to do this at no cost to the participants and that is why we need your support.
Our VBS will be a week-long curriculum. At the RNL Youth VBS, kids plunge into an undersea world brimming with colorful coral, flashy fish, and abundant life. Immersed in oceans of fun, kids discover God is a real friend who loves them forever! RNL Youth VBS is a Bible-rich experience grounded in hands-on, multi-sensory learning that kids will be talking about for years to come.
The first week will be July 8th- 12th and the second will be July 15th – 19th from 8am to 3pm for kindergartners – 5th graders at Renewed Life Church, 8815 W Peoria Ave. The Peoria Preschool will be available if any before or aftercare is needed. We offer opportunities for the older population of Sun City to engage in intergenerational relationships by teaching in our craft, music, afterschool, and sports programs as we will do the same will our VBS as we feel these relationships offer as sense of value to both the participants and the volunteers. We are also bringing in our teen leaders to assist in the program. These teens assist in the community in exchange for participating in our Knowledge about College, Financial Success, and Professional Mentorship programs.
The participants will be in age-appropriate groups and will rotate from stations throughout the day coming together for the opening and closing prayers. Each station will be designed to be interactive as well as focusing on Biblical lessons as well as educational. Each station will teach an activity that illustrates science, math, and reading using the Bible. Station leaders will be trained in presentation of the activities so that they will be able to keep the attention of the participants of each age.
The theme of the camp will focus on developing a knowledge of Jesus’s love for them, his children. Each group leader will guide the groups through each station, supporting the station leaders in each lesson. As the groups finish a station, each group leader will lead a discussion on what they had just experienced and how the group saw the relevance in life today.
The cost of each participant is $100 per child which in today’s economy is incredible however to a family with 3 kids and a single mother, that is $300 on a single income and an opportunity that is less of a priority. However, we hope that you feel as we do and no opportunity to bring Christ to our youth today should depend on a person’s income. We are asking for help sponsoring some of these children. We hope to host 40 children each week and with it being a free program, we depend on our community to join in our effort to increase the value of the world around us.
